This glossary is intended to provide a general overview of policy types and available coverage. Specific policy language must be referenced to determine the exact coverage, terms, conditions, and exclusions contained in that policy. Director and Officer Liability will protect your officers, directors, employees and, in some policies, your volunteers in the event they are held liable for damages caused by error, mismanagement, misleading statements, wrongful termination, or omissions. Employee Benefits coverage will protect your business in the event you are held liable for claims arising from the administration of your employee benefits programs. Covered losses included improperly counseling plan participants, handling records carelessly, failing to enroll or terminate employees or improperly interpreting coverage. Accident or Special Events coverage will pay medical expenses for injuries to participants in an event which is not part of the normal operation of your business. Workers' Compensation is required by state law. Benefits are paid to employees who suffer work-related injuries. Expenses are paid for lost wages, medical expenses, and permanent disability or disfigurement. Employer's Liability protects your business in the event of liability for injuries suffered by an employee, and the employee foregoes benefits provided under workers compensation and brings suit against your company under the common law. This coverage is written in conjunction with workers' compensation.
